- Nickname - chosen by you and shown on leaderboards.
- Email address - optional, used only for reminders, streak alerts, unsubscribe handling, and account-related messages you request.
- Game results - score, time, hints used, wrong guesses, streaks, puzzle number, and related play history.
- Tribe board activity - tribe membership, invite links, owner status, and leaderboard results within tribes.
- Cookies - used to recognise your player profile and remember basic preferences such as timezone.
- Email delivery events - message identifiers and delivery status from our email provider so we can diagnose reminders and unsubscribe issues.
How We Use Information
- To save your progress, streaks, scores, and puzzle history.
- To show public and private leaderboard rankings.
- To run tribe boards and invite links.
- To send daily reminders or streak alerts if you enable them.
- To process unsubscribe requests and prevent unwanted email.
- To troubleshoot bugs, email delivery problems, scoring issues, and abuse.
Public Information
Your nickname, score, streak, rank, solve time, and similar game results may be visible on leaderboards. If you join a tribe board, those details may also be visible to other people in that tribe.
Do not use a nickname that contains private information you do not want others to see.
Cookies and Local Storage
CrackTheQuote uses cookies to keep you connected to your player profile and remember your timezone. If you clear cookies or use a different browser, the site may treat you as a new player unless your profile can be reconnected.
Email and Unsubscribing
Email reminders and streak alerts are optional. You can change email settings in My Profile or use the unsubscribe link included in reminder emails.
When you unsubscribe, we disable reminder emails for that address. We may keep limited technical records needed to honour that unsubscribe and diagnose email delivery.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not send third-party marketing emails.
- We do not ask for payment card details inside CrackTheQuote.
- We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information.
Service Providers
We use service providers to host the site, store game data, and send email. These providers process information only so the game can operate, reminders can be delivered, and technical issues can be investigated.
Your Choices
- You can update your nickname and email settings in My Profile.
- You can turn off reminders and streak alerts at any time.
